چکیده

Abstract Many applications related to ground-motion studies and engineering seismology benefit from the opportunity easily download large dataset of earthquake recordings with different magnitudes. In such applications, it is important have a reliable seismic characterization stations introduce appropriate correction factors for including site amplification. Generally, networks in Europe describe properties station through geophysical or geological reports, but often ad-hoc field surveys are missing done using indirect proxy. It then necessary evaluate quality characterization, accounting available information, measurements procedure reliability applied methods obtain parameters. In this paper, we propose strategy be included metadata. The idea that good should larger ranking respect one poor incomplete information. proposed metric includes computation three indices, which take into account indicators, their number importance, together consistency defined scatter plots each single pair indicators. For purpose, consider seven indicators identified as most relevant companion paper (Cultrera et al. 2021): fundamental resonance frequency, shear-wave velocity profile, time-averaged over first 30 m, depth both seismological bedrock, surface geology soil class.

Variation in Seismic Noise at Seismic Stations with Implications for Event Detection

A network of 23 analog seismic stations was established in Pakistan to monitor seismic activity. The instrumentation of seismic stations includes short period seismometers with natural period at 1 Hz. The seismic noise conditions of five seismic stations are studied to determine the detection capability in the frequency range from 1.0 Hz to 10.0 Hz regarding monitoring of local and regional sei...

An Improved Method for Seismic Site Characterization with Emphasis on Liquefaction Phenomenon

Iran is an active seismic region. Earthquake damage is commonly controlled by three interacting factors including source and path characteristics, local geological and geotechnical conditions and type of the structures. Obviously, all of this would require analysis and presentation of a large amount of geological, seismological and geotechnical data. In this paper, nonlinear geotechnical seismi...

Detection of T-phases at Island Seismic Stations: Dependence on Seafloor Slope, Seismic Velocity and Roughness

The hydroacoustic segment of the International Monitoring System (IMS) currently being installed for use in verifying compliance with the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), will consist of six hydrophone stations and five supplemental T-phase stations. The ability to detect acoustic signals at T-phase stations relies on an understanding of the acoustic to seismic coupling mechanisms....

Reference Events for Regional Seismic Phases at IMS Stations in China

Seismic-event location within the context of monitoring the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty entails a priori knowledge of the travel time of seismic phases for a given source to stations of the International Monitoring System (IMS). Such travel-time information (or ground truth, GT) is provided empirically by seismic reference events, events that have well-determined hypocenter locations ...
